Flowers residency 2023
As part of the new First of the month Saturday Shop@mote, we welcome a local group of grower/flower artists.
‘Ochre Botanical Studios is an Edinburgh-based collective of seven studio florists who strive to work in an environmentally conscious way, promoting floristry practice that is responsible, ethical and has a sustainable future. We provide floral services for events, installations, weddings and collaborations of all kinds using flowers we’ve either grown ourselves or from our network of local growers.
Founded in 2020, our flower growing is based in a walled community garden at Granton, beside the sea in north Edinburgh. We occupy a small corner of the three acre site. Our main growing season is late March until October. Given the small-scale of our garden, we grow only what we love.
The power of the collective means that we can support each other, take on exciting large-scale projects, and share the workload and joy of both growing and arranging beautiful flowers.
Ochre will be developing a series of regular monthly pop-up flower shops, which started in May 2023, as well as creating larger installations in the space.’
